All Clients Please Note:
Please note any time sensitivity for your project, but keep in mind that Miss Zoë’s schedule is often booked 4-6 months in advance. We will do our best to be accommodating as we navigate additional precautions and any business adjustments required from the state. Please know that your health and safety are our first concern.
If you have been sick or been in contact with anyone exhibiting cold/flu like symptoms in the two weeks preceding your appointment, please reschedule.
Sincere apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and we appreciate your cooperation and support.
How do I get tattooed by Miss Zoë?
To start the process you must first go to Zoë’s website, www.zoeelizabetharts.com, read this FAQ Page, and submit your idea using the “Contact” link on this page. Please be very thorough when describing your ideas, body placement, and size.
What happens next?
You will be contacted within about 2 weeks of your contact form submission for the next step. If you don’t hear back, please feel free to send an email or text follow-up. All consultation is done via text or email. I include time at the beginning of the first appointment to make any design modifications if desired.
Is there a way to increase my chances of being tattooed by Miss Zoë?
Yes. Miss Zoë normally takes on a project with fewer restrictions on design and body placement before she chooses something that has very set in stone parameters. Bringing her a great idea will get you noticed more quickly than things that must be done a certain way in the tattoo. Larger themed projects and tattoos on clean skin normally receive scheduling priority. Lastly, Zoë is looking for clients that are dedicated enough to put forth the time and financial investment that is necessary for them to receive the best possible tattoo.
What if Zoë chooses not to take on my project?
If Zoë thinks the project is suited well for someone she knows, you may receive a referral of an artist that would better be suited for the project requested.
How much does Miss Zoë charge?
Pricing varies depending on the project and are based on an hourly rate of $180. The majority of projects that she takes on are tattoos that cannot be finished in one session. To schedule a project, consistent and time flexible appointments are necessary. Payment for your project is due at the time of service. Miss Zoë accepts electronic payments with a small fee to compensate for credit card and platform service charges.
How much of a deposit does Miss Zoë require?
Miss Zoë requires a $180 scheduling deposit to hold you appointment. This deposit is applied to the first sitting for your tattoo. If a client reschedules an appointment more than twice, an additional deposit of $180 is required, and the initial deposit is forfeited.
A deposit serves to ensure that any time Miss Zoë puts into your project before the actual tattooing takes place is compensated should you decide to halt, drastically alter, or abandon the project for any reason. Zoë will not undertake any research and/or drawing for your project until a deposit has been paid. Drawings for projects are available at the time of your appointment.
Deposits may be gifted or transferred to another client upon notification and approval by Miss Zoë, but deposits are not refundable. Scheduled appointment dates are not transferrable.
Are there any styles of tattoo that Miss Zoë won't do?
Please review Miss Zoë’s portfolio before submitting a request for a tattoo. She prefers projects in water color, trash polka, stippling, sacred geometry. She does not utilize Japanese or traditional styles of tattooing. She does not tattoo anything hate or drug related. She does not tattoo script or lettering.
Where is Miss Zoë located?
Miss Zoë is currently tattooing at Hello Sunshine Tattoo in Fairbanks, Alaska located at 3535 College Road Suite A.
Scheduling & How to Prepare for Your Appointment
When submitting a new project request, please note that Miss Zoë is booked out 4-6 months and does not schedule any weekend appointments in June. All new client projects are scheduled for 1pm. Please plan for a 4-5 hour block of time for your tattoo appointment even if it is a small tattoo. It is ideal to keep an open schedule for the day of your appointment and to prioritize rest post-tattooing.
Designs are not available in advance of the time of your appointment. Miss Zoë is drawing for many clients and draws to her schedule. If there is a project she is really excited about, she may start a draft immediately but may not have a drawing that is tattoo ready until the time of the appointment.
You may request a specific timeframe to start/complete your project but consistent and time flexible appointments are necessary. Travel including but not limited to field work, vacations, and camping trips are not recommended in the first week following tattooing due to the possibility of complications during healing.
Please be flexible with time of arrival. Miss Zoë is often belated and appreciates your grace with timeliness. Arrive clean (shower but don't use lotion in the area to be tattooed), rested, drug-free and alcohol-free. Do not shave the area to be tattooed. Do not drink excess coffee or caffeine.
Miss Zoë cannot tattoo a person who is currently taking antibiotics, blood thinners, or medications that suppress the immune system without medical clearance from your doctor. This includes any over the counter or prescription medications that contain Naprosyn or Naproxen (Aleve), Aspirin (Excedrin, etc) or Ibuprofen (Advil). Any anti-inflammatories or blood thinners can cause excessive bleeding during the tattooing process. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is fine to take before getting tattooed. Feel free to call or text if you have questions about any medications or supplements you want to take or are prescribed and how they may affect the tattooing process if at all.
Zoë cannot legally tattoo a person who has a communicable disease (including the flu, fungal or bacterial skin infections, staphylococcus, or even a common cold) nor will Zoë tattoo a person who has a disease or disorder that may conflict with your ability to withstand the applications and/or healing of a tattoo without medical clearance from your doctor. Additionally Zoë cannot tattoo anyone pregnant or nursing. If you have questions or concerns about being a suitable tattoo candidate, please ask.
Eat a healthy meal no more than 4 hours before coming in, preferably within 2 hours of your appointment. You need to have your body performing at its best which means it needs to have fuel. A well nourished body will help you to produce endorphins, relax, and keep your blood pressure stable under stress... all things that will help you get through the tattooing process. Feel free to bring a snack and something to drink as we will be taking breaks.
Wear comfortable clothing. Be sure to bring appropriate and comfortable undergarments to change into if required for your tattoo placement choice. Remember tattoo ink stains and doesn't come out easily. So choose clothing accordingly.
Bring your ID. The state requires a current government issued picture ID, drivers license, or passport for ANYONE and EVERYONE who gets tattooed. No exceptions.
What to Expect at Your First Appointment
Park next to Fuji Japanese Restaurant, and I'll come unlock the door
We will go down to the shop and you can have a seat on the couch while I get my iPad out and ready and pull up your design.
You'll approve the design (or we can redraw it if you don't like it).
I’ll have you fill out the liability and consent waiver form.
I'll print it out, get the sizing right, and then make the stencil.
Once the stencil is made, we will go to my work room and you can have a seat in one of the comfy grey chairs while I set up and get my station ready (forewarning, I talk a LOT).
Once the station is set up, I'll have you stand next to me and I will clean and shave the areas on your body where we are going to tattoo.
Then i'll rub stencil stuff on you and place the stencil (this may take a bit if we have to replace things).
Then we have to wait about 5 min for the stencil to set and I'll probably go to the bathroom or make myself a coffee (and you if you want one!).
Then you'll sit or lay down on my work chair and we will get started!
I'll show you the expiration date on the needles I'll be using, start the stopwatch, ask if you're ready then once you agree, we will start tattooing :D
If at any point you need a break, let me know! I'm super patient (I have a horrible concept of time).
After the tattoo is finished (or we get to a stopping point) I'll have you look in the mirror, then ill grab some photos, send the photos to you, and then wrap up your tattoo in either plastic wrap or 2nd skin (the breathable plastic that you leave on for a few days) but I'll give you the "how to" on aftercare when we get there.
Then I’ll tell you our time, do some math, and then you can pay me via Venmo or with cash :D (reminder, your first hour is already paid for with your deposit).
Then if we want to schedule again, we can, or you'll be on your way! :D and that's it! That's the general "what to expect"
